community of Laurel has several places where you can catch live
shows performed by local and visiting theater groups.
Laurel Community Theater
This amateur theater group presents a wide variety of stage
productions, which are usually held within the autumn months.
Theater 7
Theater 7 hosts a community theater
group that was recently formed with an emphasis on small cast
productions. The group holds weekly workshops at Phelps Community
Center.
Of course, you can venture out a little further to the big cities
and experience Broadway and beyond.
Annapolis Opera
Annapolis Opera has now established itself as one of Maryland's
artistic gems, which offers a variety of artistically excellent
professional opera productions at affordable prices.
Arena
Stage
Located in D.C., this non-profit stage company is often cited
as the best regional theater company in America. The 51-year-old
theater has three different stages and produces plays that reveal
all that is passionate, exuberant, deep, and dangerous in the
American spirit. The Green Line Metro Waterfront Station drops
you one block from the Arena Stage. The Archives/Navy Memorial
Stop on the Yellow Line also drops you
a short distance from the theater.
Baltimore
Symphony Orchestra
The Baltimore Symphony Orchestra performs 200 concerts a year,
including classical and pop concerts featuring world-renowned
artists, family, summer, and holiday concerts, and special events.

Stage
Located in downtown Baltimore, Center Stage is considered one
of the top ten regional theaters in the country. The professional
theater features a variety of plays in two state-of-the-art
theaters.
Chesapeake
Music Hall
Annapolis' premiere dinner theatre features a delicious buffet
and quality Broadway-style shows that are certain to make a
memorable evening!
Folger
Shakespeare Library & Theater
A lively center for literary and performing arts, the Folger
offers a full calendar of performances and programs, from poetry
readings and theatrical productions to early-music concerts
and family activities. Convenient to either the Capital South
(Orange or Blue Lines) or Union Station (Red Line) Metro stops.
Ford's
Theater
The theater where President Lincoln was assassinated now produces
musicals and plays that embody family values, underscore multiculturalism,
and illuminate the eclectic character of American life. Located
blocks away from three Washington D.C. Metro stops - Metro Center,
Gallery Place, and Archives/Navy Memorial.
The
John F. Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts
Overlooking the Potomac River in Washington D.C., this performing
arts center is a living memorial to President Kennedy. The Kennedy
Center contains two theaters
and a stage for Broadway productions. Take the Metro to the
Foggy Bottom/George Washington University Station and from there
it is a seven-minute walk, or use the
free Kennedy Center Show Shuttle.
Merriweather
Post Pavilion
Enjoy live musical performances by your
favorite artists. Conveniently located among Columbia's Symphony
Woods, Merriweather hosts a variety of outdoor entertainment
for everyone. The amphitheater offers 5,200 pavilion seats,
which are sheltered from the weather, and about 10,000 law seats.
Montpelier
Cultural Arts Center
Less than ten minutes from Victoria
Falls, this multi-art facility is located on the
grounds of Montpelier Mansion in Laurel, Maryland. It hosts
a variety of events including a premiere jazz series, a classical
music competition, poetry readings, dance pieces, and a visiting
artist's residency.
Toby's
Dinner Theater
Baltimore and Washington's only professional
dinner theater is located just a short distance away in Columbia.
This award-winning theater features a luscious buffet and spectacular
musicals.
Wolf
Trap National Park for the Performing Arts
Wolf Trap offers two performance venues;
the Filene Center and the Barns at Wolf Trap. The Filene Center,
an outdoor amphitheater seating just over 7,000, provides world-class
performances from late May to early September. You'll experience
intimate performances at the Barns at Wolf Trap, two antique barns
joined together to create a unique theater setting. The 352 seat
theater hosts an array of musical performances from October through
May and opera performances throughout the summer. Located in Vienna,
Virginia, Wolf Trap is less than an hour drive from your new home.
You can also choose to take the Orange Line Metro to the West
Falls Church Station. The Wolf Trap Metro Shuttle Bus leaves the
station every twenty minutes starting two hours before each performance.
