Ground is Broken at Central Parke at Colonial Charles !

Waldorf, MD – November 17, 2005. Ground was recently broken for the new Resort Club at Central Parke at Colonial Charles, a 55+ resort community in Waldorf, Maryland.

The event featured a number of state and local officials including, Delegate Wm. Daniel Mayer; Charles County Commissioner President Wayne Cooper; Robert Fuller, Charles County Commissioner for District 4; Dr. Edith Patterson, Charles County Commissioner for District 2; Allan (Al) Smith, Charles County Commissioner for District 3; and Candice Quinn Kelly, Charles County Commissioner for District 1.

According to William L. Slenker, President, Central Parke® Communities, “I am so pleased with the response we have received to Central Parke at Colonial Charles. The fact that this many elected officials would take time out of their busy schedules to be a part of this Groundbreaking is just wonderful." Central Parke® Communities is the 55+ Resort Division of Slenker Communities.

County Commissioner President Wayne Cooper said “Central Parke at Colonial Charles will be a high quality community and that is just what Charles County needs. I am most impressed with how the community is being designed and the fact that the architecture of The Resort Club will be in keeping with the colonial style. I am also very impressed with Central Parke’s Maintenance Program and the safety factor that provides our citizens.” Commissioner Cooper added that Charles County ranks as one the highest counties in Maryland in the number of Baby Boomers retiring. “This is the kind of opportunity they need and we want to retain their quality of life.” According to Mr. Slenker, “More and more retirees are making the decision to live close to family and friends, rather than leave the area. Many are choosing to continue working or work part-time so they need to find a community close to where they have been living and working rather than “retiring” to the Sunbelt. We recognized this and have created 55+ communities such as Central Parke at Colonial Charles that will meet this growing trend.”

Also at the event were representatives from The Airston Group; Woodside Communities; and Sturbridge Homes who will be building homes at Central Parke at Colonial Charles. According to Mr. Slenker, “These builders were chosen for their sound business practices, spectacular designs, dedication to quality and craftsmanship, and commitment to customer service and satisfaction.” The builders will debut brand new floor plans not built anywhere else that were designed exclusively for the Active Adult buyer. The Airston Group will build 84 single family homes; Woodside Communities will offer 80 single family homes and 74 villas; DR Horton will build 103 spacious villas; and Sturbridge Homes will build 125 luxury condominiums with elevators. Prices have yet to be announced.

The Private Resort Club offers an inviting colonial-style décor with an outdoor terrace overlooking a pond and fountains. Inside, homeowners can play cards, take a cooking class, or exercise in the state-of-the-art fitness center. The community includes both an indoor and outdoor pool. The Private Resort Club also features a whirlpool spa and sauna; billiards and sports lounge; and library and business center. According to Mr. Slenker, all Central Parke® Communities feature a Carefree Maintenance Program allowing residents the time to finally “live the lifestyle they deserve.” Adds Mr. Slenker, “We take care of mowing the lawn and cleaning the gutters, so residents can spend their time enjoying the resort-style amenities we offer and exploring the area around their community. In addition to the Private Resort Club, we will include nature and fitness trails, a tennis center, and a mail pavilion. We found at our other communities that the residents really enjoy stopping by the mail pavilion. Here, they can catch up with their neighbors as they pick up their mail.” ###
