Burke, VA ­ May 9, 2006. Bill Slenker, President of Slenker Communities, a developer of mixed-use, all-age and Active Adult 55+ communities, addressed the Building for Boomers & Beyond 50+ Housing Symposium 2006 in Phoenix, Arizona on April 24. Hosted by the National Association of Home Builders’ (NAHB) 50+ Housing Council, the Symposium is considered the premier educational and networking conference for the 50+ market.

According to Mr. Slenker, “This is the fastest growing segment of the housing market. What was once a niche market in the sunbelt has exploded across the nation. Builders and developers need to know how to market to this population if they are going to grow their business and be successful. I hope to pass along some of our “lessons learned” with our Central Parke® brand and offer insight into this market.”

Mr. Slenker participated in a panel entitled, “Operation 2016 ­ Community Vision: Planning for Baby Boomers & Beyond” which explored location, lifestyle and luxury as integral to the success of seniors/active adult communities for the year 2016. He also participated in the closing session panel, “Who, What, Where and When ­ 50+ Home Buyer 2006 to 2010.” The panel analyzed and debated the implications of a new nationally representative study of 50+ consumers.

According to the NAHB, America’s 50+ population is expected to hit 100 million by 2010. Builders have to look to the future to meet the needs of a consumer group that will completely change the way they do business.
